    Artificial intelligence has become a vital part of our daily lives over the past ten years from a science fiction vision. We use AI systems for communicating with our telephones through Siri and Alexa, vehicles like Teslas understand and evaluate their environments to drive them smartly, Amazon tracks our browsing habits, provided us smartly and wisely with those items that we think we want to purchase. There are artificially intelligent algorithms, they've been transforming our lives for better or worse already. But it's just the start, and we're going to look back one day on AI and laugh at how simplistic it was one day. Because AI is going to change everything in the future. But are we going to need to?

     Well, what exactly is AI? The easiest descriptor is to gather world data and use it to make short-and long-term observations. It applies to people as well as computers. So when we're thinking about AI in our lives, we're speaking about everything from a machine that can decipher a handwritten text, like an OCR translator, to a robot doing complicated surgery alone, to a massive database which categorizes your personality depending on what you've written and looked at online. Because the AI universe is so incredibly big, let's look at some of the most revolutionary technologies we're hoping to see in the very near future, and whether this is a positive forward or backward to society.

     In the first place, AI systems are already prepared to take over thousands, if not millions of jobs. Any work that consists of a person collecting data from and inputting it into a program from other humans is likely to become redundant. Therefore, cashiers, receptionists, TV salesmen and bankers are all out. Factories are also becoming fully automated, so are car washes, and movie theaters. When we develop better AI, we find that it is not only capable of replacing human labor, but also of thinking in ways that human beings can not. Algorithms, capable of monitoring and processing massive data, and drawing conclusions on patterns, are ready to change any avenue of society. From a specific point of view, including modeling traffic conditions over time in order to determine the best routes or how to fix roads and rebuild highways. To something far more serious, such as tracking and preventing epidemics and disease until they spread. Machine learning has even shown to interpret human behavior, and identify warning signs by identifying common language used by individuals such as sexual predators or threats, and alert law enforcement to respond. Again, the same technology may be used to track dissidents or serve vulnerable people fake information while blocking conflicting opinions and information.

   The more we research and grow artificial intelligence, the clearer it becomes that there is a lot of responsibility for this massively powerful device. The biggest barrier is not technology, but economic and political, as futurists try to plan for a rapidly changing and developing environment. Only a few tech monopolies dominate the new breakthroughs in data collection, storage, and analysis and while we may expect that AI can help advance our culture, it may just end up working to support the tech industry and only those who can afford to take advantages of cheaper, smarter human replacements to society's disadvantage. We don't know what the future holds for now.

    A large part of the population is at the mercy of growing technology every day, yet few really know what it is. HAL 9000 and Marvin the Mobile Paranoid, you know? That generation has developed a unique vision of a world ruled or at least served by robots through books and movies. We are conditioned to expect flying cars to escape traffic and robotic maids whipping up our weekday dinner. But if AI's age is here, why not be more like the Jetsons in our lives? Okay, it's a cartoon for example. And really, if you've ever browsed Netflix movie reviews or asked Alexa to order a pizza, you're definitely engaging more than you know with artificial intelligence. And that's the point. AI is designed to prevent you from knowing that the shots are called by a computer. But that also makes it a little difficult to understand what AI is— and what it is not.

    Basically, AI is a wide area of computer science that makes computers appear to have human intelligence. So it's not just training a machine by obeying traffic signals to drive a car, but it's when the program even begins to show signs of human-like road rage. This technology is not new as daunting as it may seem. In reality, it's been an idea ahead of its time for the past half-a-century. Dartmouth professor John McCarthy coined the term "artificial intelligence" for the first time back in 1956. He called together a team of computer scientists and mathematicians to see if computers will learn to use trial and error to establish logical reasoning as a young child would. The project plan says they're going to figure out how to make computers "use words, shape abstractions and definitions, solve kinds of issues that are now reserved for humans, and develop themselves." That was over 60 years ago. AI has stayed in university classrooms and super-secret labs for the most part since then. But that's going to change. Like all exponential curves, when a line that's difficult to tell. But a few things have resulted in AI becoming the next "major" trend over the past few years: First, massive amounts of data are generated every minute. Nevertheless, over the past two years, 90 percent of the world's data has been generated. And now machines can actually make sense of all this data faster thanks to advances in processing speeds. As a result, tech giants and venture capitalists have bought into AI and are infusing cash and new applications into the market.

   AI will soon become a little less artificial, and much smarter. Now the question is: Will you stand up for another Terminator movie, live on the streets of your city? Not exactly. Stop thinking about robots, in fact. A robot is nothing more than the shell that masks what is actually used to drive the system when it comes to AI. Which means which AI can manifest in a variety of ways. You've got your bots first. They are text-based and incredibly powerful, but they are tight. Ask for the forecast for a weather bot and it's going to tell you that it's partly cloudy with a 57 high. Yet ask the same bot when it's in Tokyo, and it's going to get a bit confused. That's because the developer of the bot just programmed it by pulling from a specific data source to show you the weather. Natural language processing makes these bots a little more complex. When you're asking Siri or Cortana where the nearest gas station is, it's really just converting your voice into text, feeding it into a search engine, and reading the human syntax answer. You don't have to speak in code, in other words.

To conclude, A.I. is not human versus machine. Instead, it’s human and machine versus problem. AI will give you more time to concentrate on your customers by automating and minimizing the repetitive tasks of your work. You can thus create meaningful relationships, spend more time on strategic projects and, in the end, be more human.

What’s the difference between strong AI and weak AI?

The difference between the two is just like the terms sound. Strong AI can successfully imitate human intelligence and is at the core of advanced robotics. Weak AI can only predict specific characteristics that resemble human intelligence. Alexa and Siri are excellent examples of weak AI.

What would you say are common misconceptions about AI?

Many AI-related misconceptions are making the rounds in the age of “fake news.” The most common ones are:

  • AI will replace humans

  • AI systems aren’t safe

  • AI will lead to significant unemployment

While these types of stories are common, they’re far from the truth. Even though some AI-based technology is able to complete some tasks—for example, analyzing zettabytes of data in less than a second—it still needs humans to gather the data and define the patterns for identification. So, we aren’t near a reality where technology has the potential to replace us or our jobs.

 

How is Computer Vision and AI related?

Computer Vision is a field of Artificial Intelligence that is used to obtain information from images or multi-dimensional data. Machine Learning algorithms such as K-means is used for Image Segmentation, Support Vector Machine is used for Image Classification and so on. Therefore Computer Vision makes use of AI technologies to solve complex problems such as Object Detection, Image Processing, etc.

  Nowadays, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is very real to us. We are almost unaware that many of us interact with AI every day from business applications to everyday life. AI is probably one of the most exciting advancements we're experiencing as human beings. It is a computer science division dedicated to creating smart machines that function and respond like human beings.

  The overall research objective of artificial intelligence is to create technology that enables computers and machines to function intelligently. The general problem of simulating (or creating) intelligence was divided into sub-problems. Artificial Intelligence is the computers engineered and configured in such a way as to think and act as a human being. Artificial Intelligence is becoming an essential part of our everyday life. Using the work machine speeds up the work process and gives you an accurate result. Artificial Intelligence makes our lives more effective every day. AI helps multiple programs and services that enable us do daily things including communicating to family, using an email program or using a ride sharing app.

​

   I guess we're still a long way away, despite a lot of progress being made by the AI. It may be important to go back to the basics of the AI in order to achieve a true strong AI, or it may not be possible to achieve a true strong AI. The soft AI varies from the powerful AI since knowledge is modelled by the computer program.

​

   There is still an unknown possibility of creating a conscience in a machine. The computers operate in binary, dealing only with 1 and 0, while the human brain is much more complicated in works with neurons. We're unable to develop an artificial brain now. Many restrictions have been imposed by some scientists, such as the idea that cognition is unique for living organisms, that machines do not have the proper language to have human-like knowledge, or that machines can only measure and not thought. Nevertheless, I believe it is still early to confirm these limits to the AI, it is not really obvious what is cognition, and the history of human development has often shown that technical challenges considered impossible to overcome have been addressed later.

    A lot of people working in AI have already issued some warnings about a complete and autonomous AI. The alerts were provided by Elon Musk, Bill Gates & Stephen Hawking and the potential risks of the AI were published. For them, creating and deploying a powerful AI would be synonymous with the end of the human species. Some citizens also want to ban autonomous weapons-that is, self-sufficient machines that can kill people.

​

   The ethical issue is unavoidable in the face of AI improvement. In a specific example of intelligent vehicles, I will explain my    remarks. In reality, the near future will certainly see the light for connected intelligent and autonomous cars. Nevertheless, like any traffic, inevitable accidents can happen, the question I'd like to ask is how the smart car will be able to respond to an impossible accident, endanger the car passengers or protect the pedestrians. So, the problem of ethics in all this, how is the car to manage this type of situation programmed?

   In summary, I conclude that a fully automated unstable AI is dangerous to humans. I see that AI as a tool that can assist us in addressing and helping people.
